Rag Bunny, 70's Squid, and The Incredible Hulk

I love to crochet.  My sister taught me the basic single crochet about 2 years ago and I've been hooked ever since. So far I have made 2 full-length afghans (you could cover a whole couch in these things... they took me about 4-6 months to complete each one), a toilet paper cozy, the two puppets used in my 'Stached animation (which you can find on my animations page...wink wink watch it), and a variety of stuffed animals or amigurumi (the name given to dolls made through crochet).

My favorite things to make are definitely the amigurumi.  I started out using patterns I found online to learn the different crochet stitches and how to make different shapes.  Now I've started to use these skills to create my own characters. Such as...

Rag Bunny

I made her a few months ago actually, but she's so cute I wanted to share her.  I based her off of a pattern I found online, but through happy accident made her longer than the pattern stated by crocheting in the back loops only, instead of doing single crochets (The actual pattern made for a much rounder bunny).  I like her better this way so yay! Also she's stuffed with rags (I didn't have any stuffing), thus "Rag Bunny".  The little scarf was also my idea.

70's Squid

The idea for this little guy came from something I saw on Etsy. Someone made a variety of these little critters and I thought they were the cutest things on the planet. I said "I think I can make that." And I did. I made him as a little side project inbetween bigger projects (I needed supplies) using yarn I found in the basement. Turns out it used to belong to my brother-in-law's grandmother, so the reason it looks all 70's is because this yarn is actually FROM the 70's. Epic.

The Incredible Hulk!

My sister and bother-in-law took me to see The Avengers when it was in theaters, and afterwards I determined that I wanted to crochet them! I started with the Hulk because he's far less complicated than the others (his costume is a pair of pants). I based him off of a sock-boy pattern I found online, but tweaked everything to make it more hulk-like (you should see my pattern... it's so covered in "hulk notes" I don't think anyone else could decifer it.) The arms, legs, ears, hair, and pants design are entirely my own. Also the face design. He's so viciously adorable. ^__^

Currently in the works is Captain America! He...doesn't currently have legs yet, but I'm getting there! Then I have to add the A and the star, and the little wings on his head....and his shield....and stitch his limbs on. It'll be great, I promise!
